Asantha de Mel resigns as Chief Selector

Ashantha de Mel has tendered his resignation as Chairman of Cricket  Selection Committee. De Mel also resigned from the post of team manager during the second  Test against England last week. His resignation follows Sri Lanka's poor run in recent test series against South Africa and  England. Sri Lanka lost all four matches. De mel played the duel role of selector and manager on tour following a request by the board since the  World Cup in England in 2 019.
