In the wake of the recent terror attacks in Sri Lanka, the government has decided to send a three member security team with the national cricket team for the World Cup in England. Accordingly three officials from the Ministerial Security Division is expected to travel to England on May 7 when the team fly out for the game’s biggest tournament.

The decision has been taken following a request made by Sri Lanka Cricket in the wake of the recent terror attack on innocent civilians.

“We will send a three member security team to England,” said Sports Minister Harin Fernando.

The Cricket World Cup begins on May 30.
