Sri Lanka Cricket election will be held tomorrow as scheduled after all parties came to an amicable settlement before the Court of Appeal. Accordingly Mohan de Silva and Ravin Wickremaratne were allowed to contest for posts other than they were disqualified by the Appeal’s Advisory Committee.
Accordingly Mohan de Silva, whose nominations for the post of president rejected, will contest for the post of secretary while Wickremaratne can contest either for post of vice president or assistan secretary. His nominations for the post of assistant treasurer was challenged and was rejected by Appeal’s Advisory Committee.
The cases were filed before the Court of Appeal by de Silva and Wickremaratne challenging Appeal’s Advisory Committee’s decision to reject their nominations. Jayantha Dharmadasa’s nominations was challenged by Shammi Silva but was allowed to contest.
This means Jayantha Dharmadasa and Shammil Silva will contest for the post of president while Mohan de Silva and Nishantha Ranatunga will contest the post of secretary. The election will be held today at the Sports Ministry Auditorium.
The cases will be taken up again on March 21.
