Durham head coach Jon Lewis has been appointed as Sri Lanka’s batting coach up to the World Cup next year.

His appointment will end Tilan Samaraweera’s reins as batting coach, just a year after he took over from Hashan Thilakaratne.

He will take over during the limited over leg of the New Zealand series early next year, the board said in a statement.

Durham, under his wings; has won the Division One County Championship (2013); Royal London One-Day Cup (2014) and also has become the runner up of the NatWest T20 Blast 2016

In a career spanning nine seasons at Durham, Lewis played 146 first-class matches & scored nearly 8,000 runs.

His appointment comes just days after the appointment of veteran Australian Steve Rixon as fielding coach.
