Bad timing by the 1980 strikers. With all the strikes taking place right now, they will not have any state sympathy whatsoever. Yet, one has to pity their plight.

Those Leftist trade union leaders who instigated and led the strikers are now enjoying all the perks after having betrayed the working class whilst the poor fellows still wait for a solution going round the mulberry bush. What a pity.

JR and UNP government responsible for sorry status of these strikers. Dozens them are virtually killed and families rendered destitute. Wander what Ranil has to say to this.
However, now Mahinda Rajapkse government has to do some justice to these people who were tortured over 32 years by successive regimes.
