Really PATHETIC state of affairs. It's a real SHAME for the country and for the leaders who are preaching democracy and worshipping Gods. There is no point in boasting of all the developments taking place in the country.if the government is not clean and unable to stop thuggery and intimidation caused by people with political connections. Isn't the government prepared to say enough is enough????? High time they wake up. These don't bother the people living in rural areas, but it does bother the people living in the city and suburbs where these thugs frequent around. Not a single civilian is safe when they are around.

Jason Patta Thursday, 20 September 2012 05:10 AM
Its so sad to see what's happening in our beloved country. Its also so sad to see that nothing is being done to bring back law and order to our country. Today, it's not safe for any law-abiding citizen to move around without fear of being caught in the cross-fire of thugs such as Mervyn Silva, his son and other political goons. How many of us can honestly say that it is safe to go out to a hotel, restaurant or club at night without fear? Remember the good old days when we could enjoy a night out at the Little Hut, Clancy's etc.? Now the thugs rule the show. The judiciary, military and police are a joke and are all influenced by them and make a mockery of the uniforms they wear. Forget about fairness and the rule of law in our country. We had a golden opportunity of turning this country around after the end of the war against the LTTE. The world falsely thinks that Sri Lanka is now a "Paradise Regained" or "Miracle of Asia". What a shame!
