An elephant was killed by an exploding illegal hunting device called Hakka Patas in the Potana area in Ampara. Wildlife officials had arrived at the scene five days after the incident, following a complaint made by villagers. Pix by Wasantha Chandrapala

    Is this the way Tourism Minister promoting Tourism in Sri Lanka.
    Let the minister display the Elephant skeletons and animal bones to tourists......while talking 2 million tourists in 2014. Whom he try to fool.

    This senless slaughter of our fast declining elephant and other wildlife populations are the continuing indications of where we as a nation are headed. This elephant looks about 5-8 years old. It is a very sad start among other matters for just the second day into the new year.
