Thousands of commuters were stranded because of a countrywide 48-hour strike launched by the Railways Professional Trade Union Alliance (RPTUA) from last midnight over salary anomalies.

Hundreds of passengers were seen at the Fort and Maradana railway stations anxiously waiting for the trains to arrive.

A train which was two and half hour late arrived at the Fort railway station around 11.00 a.m. (Pix by Kithsiri De Mel)

This govt. loves this sort of harassment of the public because they do the same thing most of the time!
