Bouquets to our gallant forces in their rescue operations and brickbats to the Met. Dept for not giving a timely warning about incoming gales! The fishermen went out to sea when the weather was encouraging not knowing the ocean would become a snarling devil in a few hours and no warning from the Met. guys! So sad about the dead and the missing.

Even when a distress call is made to the Navy for medical evacuation, they will not respond unless the order comes from a political minister, which is too late. Navy and air force should act independently for search and rescue, or at least a unit should be established.
Ask any fishermen at kudawella they will tell you. I was shocked to hear that.....

This is not a rescue helicopter, there is not even a winch...and the airmen is not in rescue gear....normal boots..no protective gear or suit. He himself putting his life in danger. It is like the hunter becoming the hunted.....
The government should setup a special rescue team fully equipped and able to operate in any part of the country independent from political interference. Their sole purpose is search and rescue
