Puttalam fisherfolk today staged protest over the laying of a high-tension power line from the Norochcholai Lak Wijeya thermal power plant to another area over the Puttalam lagoon. More than 300 members of the Valarpirai Lagoon Fishermen’s Society participated in the protest. They said the proposed high-tension power line over the lagoon would be an obstacle to their livelihood. They asked the authorities to cancel the proposed project or else they would resort to a death fast.  Pix by Hiran Priyiankara Jayasinghe

These is where the police should have use tear gas instead of mannar. Typical selfish(a)men. Howcome a powerline disrupts fishing? As if fish would be electrified. Some idiot must have poisoned these look-a like idiots.

Think of Environment before all the projects. Haphazard development brings no good to country. or for people.
