Nothing to worry, during the last presidential election too these fools were on the same stage.

    uaa Saturday, 29 September 2012 01:16 AM

Pathatic media. DM should be ashamed of not providing all fact.

University dons main objective was to get resources to improve the quality of education. There was no threat to free education.

Come on DM. Have the courage to be the leader of free media.

    Sam Saturday, 29 September 2012 01:26 AM

The sad story is that there are some academics going after the government for their personal benefits.

    Hal Saturday, 29 September 2012 01:32 AM

This is a very intelligent comment.

    Hal Saturday, 29 September 2012 01:34 AM

The more pictures of the General the more the patriots and the war mongers get annoyed. Interesting.

Ananda Aluwihare Saturday, 29 September 2012 01:39 AM

Free education? There will be no free education until the scourge of private tuition can be eliminated.

Nandalala Fernando Saturday, 29 September 2012 01:54 AM

Natioanl education is important for future generation of Sri lankan.FUTA working for natioanl education is very positive step.

    Jay Saturday, 29 September 2012 02:12 AM

Well seems like the oppersition has jumped on yet another band wagon for own glory......

Junior Citizen Saturday, 29 September 2012 02:59 AM

Majority of univ dons are against this political backing -the leaders bought over by UNP-END OF STRUGGLE

cwe takaran man Saturday, 29 September 2012 12:14 AM

In the next picture, the man who migrated to the opposition with his band of merry men is explaining that Pamankade is really on THIS side and that Alimankade is on THAT side. The Salvation Army commander however is stil confused.

    Anushka Saturday, 29 September 2012 04:03 AM

They are not with the govenment because they are the bloody opposition.

    Anushka Saturday, 29 September 2012 04:05 AM

I Think SF is gonna mess things up for him again sitting with Ranil. Can't wait for the drama to be showcased in the near future.

    GK Saturday, 29 September 2012 04:32 AM

If votes are flowing in each election why should MR or anyone else in the government get afraid?

    Fusion Saturday, 29 September 2012 04:47 AM

Look at the front row. Trying to get political capitol out of the education crisis eh? I honestly hoped the protests would be confined to Academics, Students, parents & everyday citizens. But looks like the politicos are trying to hijack it as usual. Similar things happened to the US Tea-Party & occupy wall-street movements. They got hijacked by political parties!

    nalaka Saturday, 29 September 2012 05:14 PM

TIME TO GET TO STREETS EVERYONE

kapa ta pissu Saturday, 29 September 2012 05:38 PM

What is wrong with opp politicos getting involved in a major crisis country is facing today? They are showing that FUTA has the backing of opposition parties for their struggle. No matter who is right or wrong. This problem has to be sorted out soon. If not, a stupid, ignorent and uneducated set of youngsters will be in the soceity soon.

Polkudu Chandrika Saturday, 29 September 2012 06:33 PM

I can understand why Tyrant Alles is not there with the lonely General. But where are Capitaan KuKool and the Batik Kolla?

    Lalith Monday, 01 October 2012 06:52 AM

I bit curious. I check the % of the government total expenditure in GDP. It is just 20%. If government need to allocate 6% of GDP as education expenditure, it need to spend more than 1/3 on education. Then how about the other vital services like health, high ways social services ect. So my questions is that 'are they expecting private sector participation in education?'

    dasdas Friday, 28 September 2012 07:03 PM

Truth is no one likes Mhinda.. bau they all are scared ! these are really big heroes !
my tribute for those two they murdered last night !

    saranag Friday, 28 September 2012 03:21 PM

Looks like a JVP rally not a education one!

    saranag Friday, 28 September 2012 03:22 PM

Is this a JVP rally ?

Ayesha Arambepola Friday, 28 September 2012 03:48 PM

FUTA has united the opponents of the Govt. FUTA's agitation should unite this divided opposition to bring the desired change in the country.

    Dammika Friday, 28 September 2012 04:55 PM

    Beginning of an END

    academic Friday, 28 September 2012 05:20 PM

can we see less photos of ravi and ranil, and more photos of the rally and the academics who organised this massive turnout?

SeeMyWillie Ratwata Friday, 28 September 2012 05:26 PM

In sixth picture from the top, this fellow is asking a confused Salvation Army Commander whether it was really Alimankada or Pamankada that his forces liberated.

    navi Friday, 28 September 2012 05:41 PM

good job, this proves that no intellectual is with the government
this the time to think, why they are not with the government. because they cannot be fooled like village folks. we are with you

    mohamed Friday, 28 September 2012 05:53 PM

this will give mahinda some afraid to these people

    Rj Friday, 28 September 2012 03:15 PM

    banda Friday, 28 September 2012 07:07 PM

    see ranil look like ponnayek

    keth Friday, 28 September 2012 07:13 PM

Be happy still have some freedom of speech.

    Kumudu Friday, 28 September 2012 07:27 PM

The lawyers, judges, artist and scientist should join hands. It is time foreign employees who have their children forgotten by the state voice.

    lalith Friday, 28 September 2012 07:33 PM

I remember Mahinda also became popular and become a good politician after his rally from Katharagama to Colombo. If he can remember it, he must realise the power of people and not his obedient ministers. Please listen to the peoples voice.

    dangoda Friday, 28 September 2012 10:11 PM

90% of the people attended are JVP, Perutugami and IUSF students. Other 10 percent may be UNP and other leftist parties.
No government will spend 6 percent of GDP on education. But collectively, government and private sector will spend that much. UNP knows this but they support this to topple this government.

    Parakrama Friday, 28 September 2012 10:59 PM

This struggle will lose its legitimacy by associating with bankrupt politicians

    Curious Friday, 28 September 2012 11:30 PM

Majority of them looks to be thugs !

    Professor Friday, 28 September 2012 11:40 PM

Yes MR cannot fool people all the time. A united opposition is the only solution to rescue the country from thieves, thugs, cheaters and liars.
