The Inter University Bhikkhu Federation (IUBF) today staged a protest march at the Colombo Railway Fort demanding the government to allocate 6 per cent funds from the budget for the education sector, find a solution to the lecturers issue and speedup university students’ enrollment among other issues. Absolutely. I do not recall Lord Buddha and Maha Sanga ever going on protest marches carrying placards. But remember, anyone can put on a saffron-robe but only some have the extreme discipline to become a Monk. Make no mistake there are plenty of real monks in SL contrary to popular belief, but they just avoid getting entangled in laypersons' affairs.
