What is the exclusive objective of a Buddhist monk? To follow the eightfold Aryan Path and realise Nibbana or to increase his knowledge of worldly things and get occupied in high income vocations?

When you adorn a robe the monk takes an oath that he enters monkhood to rid himself of the sufferings.Monks therefore need not go to universities but only to pirivenas to study the dhamma. Legislation must be brought to disallow any monk to enter universities. Their place is to study in the pirivenas and spread the dhamma to the world and not to get degrees and to be employed in various fields.The way the present day monks who clamour to enter universities are a disgrace to the Buddhist religion the way they behave. It is they who should admonish the young monks and show them the correct path.

Monk needs to go to Universities to learn and then come back to teach to the students. That is tradition in Sri Lanka for many years. That is how Privena statted in Sri Lanka.
