These guys should not be laughing, must be crying. There should be proper draining systems, and other systems in place to handle this type of down pour. Who are resposible for this?

    Faqi Thursday, 11 November 2010 05:03 PM

What do you expect? Is anyone surprised when people build in the middle of a lake without doing a proper environmental impact study before building? Stupidity has not price.

Kundu mali Thursday, 11 November 2010 05:38 PM

Pitty the water level did not go high.He would have done a great job. Where was our Dr. Catching Dengue?

    Patriot Thursday, 11 November 2010 06:53 PM

Do we really need a complex like this in SL? If I remember corectly this happened some time back and they wasted a lot of money to renovate. They will do it again. As ministers, MP, you guys have a obligation to the people to raise their living conditions, not happily touring a flooded complex. Go to the old parliment complex in Pettah. And who is going to repair the jeep seen here for water damage? Prime minister's office?

zarook ksm Thursday, 11 November 2010 07:09 PM

I feel its a warning from god for bringing unwanted bills like gamming, 18th ammendments, trying to bring CMC under one man rule and many many more things rather than finding a lasting solution to the minority problem. expect more and more natural disasters and try to change ur polycies for the benefits of the people rather than trying to look only for personel benefits ( specialy for the cross overs)

    Mushi Thursday, 11 November 2010 08:08 PM

    Parliament jokes at public's cost.

    haris Thursday, 11 November 2010 08:49 PM

hey Sri Lankan whom did you vote for?

    Haris

    shanil Thursday, 11 November 2010 08:59 PM

This shows there is no proper drainage systems in place in the country. So that the excess water cannot flow through the drains. Marshy lands have been filled and many houses build around Diyawanna Oya. Dept of Urban Planning should do something about it and not allow new houses or buildings be build without proper city planning.

preethi - Once again the primitive mind thinks its a imaginary deity living in the sky is doing all this. An imaginary God has nothing to do with rain - its a natural phenomena, happens all the time.

    Nimali Friday, 12 November 2010 01:44 AM

Is it too much to ask the Government to immediately start a better drainage system in Colombo? They are spending millions building bridges, airports, ports, and massive construction, they cannot cope with rain, which causes chaos. This is not good for tourism, and it makes it hard for the citizens to commute to their jobs and schools.

    Boa Friday, 12 November 2010 02:46 AM

    who's paying for all this?

    anura Friday, 12 November 2010 03:25 AM

well sai!! Prime minister in that vehicle , who cares , public money

Ruhunu Puthra Friday, 12 November 2010 04:21 AM

Yes the drain systems are not ideal. But, no drainage system could drain when it rains like this.

    Manivannan Friday, 12 November 2010 05:14 AM

    Faqi Friday, 12 November 2010 07:21 AM

Yehiya-Doha - Why do people attribute every calamity to a God, when this is a natural phenomena, happens all the time all over the world. An imaginary God has nothing to do with all this.

    mfr Thursday, 11 November 2010 03:40 PM

Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe, it is cheap publicity , high time you did something good to the voters by demanding the government to withdraw the PENSIONS for parliament members and pass a bill to pay the salary of Rs. 30000 thirty thousand rupees only per month the whole country will appreciate this and vote for you in near future elections-
