The prolong drought has affected a large population in the Puttlam district. Thousands of people are facing hardship for want of drinking water. Anamaduwa, Navagattegama, Mahakumbukkadawala, Wanathawiluwa, and Mundalama areas are the worst affected. Tanks, village water courses and garden wells have run dry compelling the people to go in search of water to distant areas. Pix by Hiran Priyankara Jayasinghe
What are we talking in politics? Look at this. How much the govt. is wasting?

Our government is wasting hundreds of billions on building international ports, international airports, expressways, cricket stadiums, luxurious five star hotels, sky scrapers etc but it can't even provide clean water to its people. The wonder of Asia.

Drought, inflation, Dengue, unemployment, breakdown of law and order etc..... who cares? We are concerned about building viharas, changing the road names, blasting tamil nadu polticians, making controversial and racial remarks in public thus keeping the LTTE issues alive

The areas mentioned above generally don't receive much rainfall throughout the year. A long term plan has to be developed to bring relief . In the meantime, the media should continue to highlight this so that the Govt's attention is drawn..

Yest because you see it. Without seeing how much water is wasted in bungalows and so called your houses.
Do not look at others look at yourself.
