Four Unaccompanied Personal Baggage (UPB) arrived from Dubai had been detained by the staff of Revenue Task Force at Orudodawatta yesterday at the Ceylon Shipping Lines (CSL) UPB office. The four packages were received in four wooden boxes shipped by a company to three different addresses in Kinniya, Aranayaka and Wattala. The given addresses do not exist.
During investigations, 347,200 sticks of cigarettes valued at Rs. 10.4 million were detected. In addition 832 pairs of gents’ shoes valued at Rs. 832,000 and 2,080 pairs of children shoes valued Rs.1.04 million were also found concealed in the baggage were found. The goods have an estimated duty of Rs. 21,786, 600 and the goods would to be forfeited. (Pix by Kushan Pathiraja)
