Pulathisi Express, a new train to Polonnaruwa was flagged off by President Maithripala Sirisena, Minister Arjuna Ranatunga and High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Taranjit Singh Sandhu this afternoon from Fort Railway Station in Colombo.
The train is supplied to Sri Lanka Railways by M/s RITES Ltd. under Indian Line of Credit. The train has best-in-class passenger amenities with fully rotating seats in the Air-Conditioned Chair Cars, on-board entertainment system and modular interiors, the Indian High Commission said in a statement. Credit line or not is nothing to crow about - finally we have to cough up the foreign exchange to pay. Don't get me wrong - Even in UK if there is no work on their factories such credit lines are given to keep their factories from closing down. This is standard practice !
