Not a boat service connect Dematagoda to Ratmalana via Battaramulla by rail. A larger segment of traffic congestion can be avoided. This is a proposal that was in the Sri Jyawardana;pura Capital City Plan. Iyt would have been the most effective project if done. As it could harm the interests of the exploiters it has not even been a subject of discussion even among professionals.discussion.

Even before 2015 this project was there. Pilot project was done by SL Navy. Free rides were given in the pilot project. It was not popular among public due to the quality of water of the canals.
