The Navam Maha Perahera of the Gangarama Temple, Colombo will parade the streets tonight. Organisers are seen making finishing touches in preparation of the Perahera. Inside the temple, the monks are seen blessing the elephant ‘Ganga’ who would carry the casket of relics in the Perahera. Pix by Nimalsiri Edirisinghe

Where is Myan Kumara ? still being given corporal punishment like one hamuduruwo said thats how they have to be trained - like how kids are beaten up by the parents when they are naughty... What a lesson in loving kindness "maha maitri" where in the suttas has Lord Buddha given this exclusive lesson picked up by the Bellanwila monks.

Not enough this majestic animal is chained all day long, now make him parade the streets like a performing monkey. Isn't Buddhism kindness to humans and animals alike.

It is shocking to see how this arrogant monk plague mistreats these majestic animals under religious pretexts. A single elephant has a higher value than the entire monk pack combined.
