The Sir Lanka Optometric Association (SLOA) organized a walk and a health camp to celebrate World Diabetes Day on the 14th of November at Sri Sumedha Collage, Gampaha under the theme of ‘Voice against avoidable blindness’.
The purpose of this education campaign was to build awareness amongst the general public for prevention and to control avoidable blindness due to diabetes in Sri Lanka.
Premium International ( Pvt ) Ltd joined hands with SLOA to conduct this community service and assisted the diagnosis of Diabetic Retinopathy using their state of the art Nidek ophthalmology equipment. Over 1,000 diabetic patients were benefitted from this free diabetic screening and awareness campaign.
