HNB Grameen Finance Ltd recently extended its support to Kudawewa Vidyalaya in Dimbulagala, Polonnaruwa, in connection with the Universal Children’s Day.
School books, library books, a 32” LED TV and a sound system were among the items donated by the company.
At the request of school Principal A.G. Bandula Rupasinghe, a name board was also gifted to this underprivileged primary school, which houses over 90 children and functions with minimum facilities.
Rupasinghe stated that this was the first occasion an institution has stepped forward to help his school. The parents of these children who live amidst many hardships find it hard to support the development activities of the school.
The principal, who is due to be transferred to another school next year, said that his aim was to do his utmost for this school before he leaves. He expressed his warm gratitude to HNB Grameen Finance Ltd for making a very special donation to his school.
HNB Grameen Finance Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Chaminda Prabath, who was the chief guest on the occasion, had some words of wisdom for the students. He told them that it was by receiving a good education that life’s challenges could be overcome.
Prabath pledged to support the school in the future whenever a need arises and he emphasised that steps would be taken to extend their help to several other underprivileged schools in the island.
Among other distinguished guests on the occasion were Deputy General Manager Bimal Seneviratne and Assistant General Manager Pathum Sampath Cooray.
