In the wake of the recent flooding that cost many lives, and deprived people of their homes and belongings, the Ceylon Tobacco Company recently donated 1000 bags of dry rations to those affected in Matara.
Under the first phase of its humanitarian initiative, CTC distributed relief aid to a group of residents affected in Deniyaya area on the 31st of May and to residents in Mathugama area on the following day. Special measures were taken by the company to seek flood victims who had not received relief aid thus far, and distributed essential items such as bed linen, towels, clothes, under garments, children’s clothes, sanitary products and medicine.
The relief aid was distributed among the victims in Deniyaya, Ratnapura, Galle, Matara, and Mathugama areas during the course of five days, with the support from the Police and Police Special Task Force officers.
