Bank of Ceylon (BOC) is set to offer 2000 ‘Ran Kekulu’ scholarships each worth Rs.15,000 for 2016 Grade 5 scholarship achievers.
This annual programme, which started in 2002, is one of the bank’s key corporate social responsibility programmes to uplift the country’s education by supporting and encouraging school children to make an extra effort in their studies.
Maintaining a minimum balance of Rs.2500 in a BOC ‘Ran Kekulu’ account on or before the date of the scholarship examination in August 2016 and 174 marks or above are the eligibility requirement for the 2016 Ran Kekulu scholarships.
All other BOC Ran Kekulu account holders who have passed the 2016 scholarship examination will be awarded a valuable gift provided they too have maintained the said minimum balance requirement.
A specimen application and the eligibility criteria of the said scholarship scheme was published in Sinhala, Tamil and English newspapers during December 2016. It will also be published in January 2017. The application can also be downloaded from the bank’s website www.boc.lk. The bank request all eligible Ran Kekulu accountholders to forward their applications before the deadline – January 16, 2017 to Assistant General Manager, 16th Floor, Marketing Division, Bank of Ceylon Head Office, Colombo 1.
