Stallholders felicitated: Architect 2016 announced

Felicitation of stall holders of Architect 2015 and the ceremonial launch of Architect 2016 was held at the Kingsbury Hotel recently, with the participation of a large number from the construction trade. 

The sponsors of the last year events were specially recognized at this event with tokens of appreciation.

Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA) President Archt. Harsha Fernando, Senior Vice President, Archt. D.H Wijewardena, Vice President and Chairman of the Exhibition Committee Archt. Bernard Gomez, along with SLIA Council members, Past Presidents, and other officials graced the occasion.

Following a welcome address by Vice President SLIA, Archt. Bernard Gomez, and a speech by President SLIA Archt. Harsha Fernando, the event progressed into a presentation of the redesigned stall layouts, and a launch of the official website, followed by a demonstration of the new, online stall reservation system. 
The event concluded with an entertaining comedy routine which highlighted the importance of the exhibition in educating the general public.

Architect 2016 will be inaugurated on 16th February 2016 followed up by National Congress on 17th February 2016. The Inaugural opening of the Exhibition will take place on the 17th of February and will be open to the public for 4 days from 18th – 21nd February 2016 from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm.

Architect 2016 will have 332 stalls and 156 display panels of work done by architects and 36 panels of constructors of major projects. The re-designed layout will feature a more cohesive public access, and participation, making it more attractive for the building trade. 

There will be special invitation for school children, educating them on the construction industry, and one day of the exhibition will be dedicated for them. 
Awards will be given to best stall holder and for the best display panel. 

The annual conference of Architect 2016 will feature themed presentations on architecture by a panel of local and international architects. The event culminates with the fellowship night, where architects, industry professionals and their clients enjoying themselves into the night.
