MIT’s Global Startup Labs (GSL) and Singapore Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE) are joining forces to offer the Global Connector Program (GCP) to alumni of MIT GSL’s incubator programs.

The Global Connector Program asks for each startup to submit a single application. The startup must have been founded by at least one MIT GSL alumnus, and the award will cover travel for two (2) MIT GSL alumni who are current founders / employees of the startup. The Global Connector Program to be held in Singapore on January 19th to 28th, 2016 and will provide MIT GSL Alumni with the opportunity for advanced training, technical mentorship, networking,
and publicity. One of previous year’s startups — PayMedia — a company that provides custom solutions for finance and telecommunication domains,  founded by GSL students Kanishka Weeramunda, Dasun Rathnayake, Dinesh Eranga and Thilanga Liyanage is one of the proud recipients who has received  the honor of attending  this program .

Since the short span of time of the inception of PayMedia, the company has been instrumental in having won many accolades bringing much repute and recognition to the country.

PayMedia has already been recognized with three awards including the Gold Award for Best Startup of the Year 2015 from the National Best Quality ICT Awards in Sri Lanka along with its founder Mr. Kanishka Weeramunda who was recognized as the Most Valuable ICT Entrepreneur of the Year 2015 for starting PayMedia.

Speaking of this opportunity, Kanishka Weeramunda said, “We are both happy and proud to have been able to win this opportunity.

New and improved offerings, products or technologies from entrepreneurs enable new markets to be developed and new wealth created for countries. We hope that at PayMedia we have helped to achieve this in our own way for our country.

We look forward to taking part in the Global Connector Program and hope to bring much know how and new ideas for even more innovations through the opportunity that we are getting by attending this program.”

Thilanga Liyanage, Tech-Lead of PayMedia said that the Global Connector Program is a good opportunity to learn about taking the company to overseas markets and to also be able to present it at the EmTech Asia Conference on the 26-27the January 2016 .
