Over 300 companies to participate at Jaffna International Trade Expo this month

The Northern region of Sri Lanka will welcome once again for the 7th consecutive year, the Jaffna International Trade Fair (JITF 2016). Considered by the people in the North as the largest exhibition and consumer fair, the event takes place from the 29th – 31st of January in Jaffna.

The exhibition which has grown to a ‘must attend’ event by the citizens, businessman, traders and entrepreneurs of the North will be held at the Municipal Grounds in Jaffna.

The trade fair comprises both local and international stalls catering to a diverse variety of needs and services. In 2015 the event attracted an audience of over 60,000 visitors. It is considered the single most focal point for a wide spectrum of investors and citizens.

The massive infrastructure development currently underway in the region has also paved way for many investment opportunities in the region which could not be afforded previously.

A special 60 member delegation from India will be visiting the event to look at opportunities and investment. The exhibition will feature the construction industry, hospitality industry, food, beverage and packing industry, automobile industry, ICT industry, financial services, apparel & textile, agricultural, consumer goods and many others, which will be on show during the three days.

The event is termed as the “gateway to the north”. Joint ventures, tie ups, large orders have been the highlights of business matchmaking between the people from the south and north. The organizers have planned many concurrent events during the 2016 edition, some of the highlights will include, 2 day musical evening with popular artiste, road show prior to the expo, children’s carnival and amusement park and much more.
