National PVC completes another national project on Children’s Day

Central Industries PLC (CIPLC), manufacturers of National PVC pipes, fittings and Krypton electrical switches, sockets and accessories, sole distributor for Hitachi Power tools and accessories in Sri Lanka, installed and enhanced the water supply system in T. B. Weerasekara Vidyalaya, Pelmadulla, Ratnapura on the International Children’s Day held recently.

As the manufacturer of a leading brand of PVC pipes, fittings and water storage tanks, CIPLC made this donation, which included a water storage system, pipes and required accessories for running water for drinking and hygienic purpose, ensuring uninterrupted water supply to T. B. Weerasekara Vidyalaya.
The system was officially inaugurated by CIPLC Director/CEO Newton Wickramasooriya in the presence of T. B. Weerasekara Vidyalaya Principal Udaya Kumara during a ceremony held to celebrate the International Children’s Day, where the children’s parents, the school’s academic staff, CIPLC General Manager Priyantha Abeykoon and other company representatives participated.

A team of technicians at Central Industries installed the complete system under the supervision of the Civil Engineer of the company, H.M.S. Ellepitawatte, while the school children’s parents assisted the CIPLC team.

T. B. Weerasekara Vidyalaya is situated in a remote area two kilometres away from the Ratnapura-Balangodamain road. Its Primary section has 90 pupils. Access to pure water for drinking and essential needs like washing hands has been lacking for a long period at the Primary section of the school. CIPLC as a leading manufacturer of water systems to the nation has been carrying out community service projects by providing uninterrupted water supply system to the needy. The company assists projects of this nature as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Addressing the gathering at the International Children’s Day celebrations amidst Kumara, the academic staff, school children, the parents and the representatives of CIPLC, the company Director/CEO Wickramasooriya said that Central Industries stressed the importance of providing essential facilities and uplifting the standards of a learning environment of school children. He stressed this aspect as such national endeavours have multi-faceted, long-term values.

Kumara appreciated the generosity and the dedication of CIPLC in his speech. The event concluded with a spectacular performance by the school children.
