Former Lanka Hospitals CEO to head Hemas Hospitals

Hemas Hospitals yesterday announced the appointment of Dr. Lakith Peiris as the Managing Director of Hemas Hospitals with effect from April 1, 2015.
He will overlook the three Hemas Hospitals in Wattala, Galle and Thalawathugoda and their 32 laboratories around the country.

Dr. Peiris is a well-known leader in the healthcare industry having been the CEO of Lanka Hospitals for over seven years. He played a key role in turning around and leading it to become one of the most successful hospitals in the country.

He has had more than 19 years of experience in the top ma

agement at a host of healthcare-related multinational corporation (MNCs) and Sri Lankan enterprises including B|Braun Asia Pacific, Lifeserv and ConvaTec, Bristol Myers Squibb Company of USA, among others.

He has introduced many international pharmaceutical, medical devices and surgical agency lines to Sri Lanka during his career in the pharmaceutical industry.
An old boy of S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia, he holds a Doctorate in Business and Management and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Western Sydney, Australia.

A certified Professional Marketer from the Asia Pacific Marketing Federation, he holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing. He has memberships in a long list of professional associations and federations and is an ambassador and an executive committee member of the Mother Sri Lanka Trust.

By virtue of the powers vested under section 6 (1) (a) of the Private Medical Institutions (Registrations) Act No. 21 of 2006, the then Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena appointed Lakith Peiris as a member of the Private Health Services Regulatory Council. He also serves the Regulatory Council in various sub-committees.
