Ceylon Biscuit Limited (CBL), the leader in the biscuit and confectionery market, recently launched the Nutriline cereal range - a tasty, healthy and wholesome cereal enriched with multi grains, delivering optimal nutrition for children. With 75 percent of Sri Lankan children skipping breakfast because of time constraints and boredom, CBL has launched its new cereal range to make breakfast time convenient and interesting.
Nutriline’s unique ingredient combinations include the five grains of wheat, soya, rice, corn and green gram without compromising taste and suitable for children aged five years and upwards. The chocolate cereal, centre filled with cocoa, does not contain artificial colours, additives or added flavours.
“We are committed to ensure that our little ones have a nutritious start, paving the way for healthy development. The cereal market at present is dominated by imported products, however, Nutriline is produced in accordance with all the international standards but available at an affordable price,” said Ceylon Biscuits Limited Group Director and Head of Marketing and Sales Nandana Wickramage.
“CBL is known for introducing quality and innovative products to the market that improve the consumer experience. This new product makes breakfast quick and convenient, providing the right balance introducing a healthier product that will appeal to mums at breakfast time and capture kids’ imagination.”
The new cereal range is produced with a unique combination of using only the natural ingredients and adhering to international standards. Fortified with 11 vitamins and minerals, Nutriline is 100 percent vegetarian. The cereal provides a full serving of multi-grains supplementing nutrition in children. It is manufactured by Convenience Foods (Lanka) PLC, a subsidiary of CBL.
“Convenience Foods is a company that strives to add value to our customers,” said Convenience Foods (Lanka) PLC Managing Director Thilanka de Zoysa. “Because of this, we recognised the need of introducing a range of breakfast cereals that meet international standards using locally grown grains and pulses. Also, while providing a superior product to our consumers we help our farmers by purchasing their produce, which in turn helps to improve their livelihoods. Additionally, local sourcing of raw materials has enabled us to enhance the freshness of the product with shorter lead times.”
Attractively packaged in three varieties - Choco Chips is sweetened cereal chips with cocoa made with grains and vitamins. Choco Grains is a multigrain chocolate-centred cereal, with wholesome grains of wheat, soya, rice, corn and green gram. Choco Blobs is a chocolate-centred cereal. These are sold in 100g packs and priced reasonably.
The package is also designed to introduce a fun and creative platform to engage children. The back of the pack will showcase innovative games and puzzles that will captivate children and encourage their imagination at breakfast time.
“The research and development process for Nutriline took nearly one year including market research, pilot trials, meeting the taste profiles and quality standards, product testing, consumer sampling and product packaging to ensure a superior product to our consumers,” said Convenience Foods (Lanka) PLC Quality Assurance and R & D Manager Mala Ratnatunga.
“In producing Nutriline we follow international food safety and manufacturing practices as well as quality inspections. The raw materials are purchased from registered suppliers and are approved for production only after inspection and testing through our in-house laboratory,” Ratnatunga added. “The manufacturing and packing process is automated with final product inspection and testing conducted by quality assurance staff.”
