Thilak Weerasinghe elected SLAITO President

SLAITO Executive Committee for the year 2020/2021

 

The 40th Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO) was held on September 29  at the Ramada Colombo. 


The Chief Guest of the ceremony was Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.  The Guest of Honour was Minister of Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga whilst Minister of Sports Namal Rajapaksa, State Minister of Aviation D.V. Chanaka and State Minister of Money & Capital Market and State Enterprise Reforms, Ajith Nivard Cabraal participated as Special Guests.


Thilak Weerasinghe the Chairman of Lanka Sportreizen (Pvt) Ltd. was elected as SLAITO President.


Nishad Wijetunga, CEO of Wayfarers (Pvt) Ltd. and Gayangi Wirasinha, Managing Director of Abercrombie & Kent were elected as Vice Presidents. Nalin Jayasundera, Managing Director of Aitken Spence Travels Ltd was elected as the Secretary and Bobby Jorden Hansen, Managing Director of Columbus Tours (Pvt) Ltd. was elected as the Treasurer.


Meanwhile, the following persons were elected to the Executive Committee of SLAITO for the period of 2020/2021: Chandra Wickremasinghe, Chairman of Connaissance de Ceylan, Nilmin Nanayakkara, MD of NKAR Travels & Tours (Pvt) Ltd, Joyce Padmini Paul, MD of Golden Isle Travels (Pvt) Ltd, Rohan Abeywickrema MD of Hawk Travels (Pvt) Ltd., Nalin A. Malwenna, MD of House of Travels & Tourism (Pvt) Ltd., Devindre Senaratne, MD of Journey Scapes (Pvt) Ltd., Charith De Alwis, GM of Tangerine Tours (Pvt) Ltd., Nalaka Amaratunga, CEO Destination Management Sector of Walkers Tours Ltd., Surendra Ediriweera, MD of Ceylon Tours (Pvt) Ltd.,

Bandula Withana, DGM of Jetwing Travels (Pvt) Ltd. and Mahen Kariyawasan, MD of Andrew the Travel Company (Pvt) Ltd as the Immediate Past President. 


SLAITO plays an integral role in all important private sector decision-making forums and is affiliated to the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
