Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO) yesterday commended the efforts of the government, particularly the Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and former Ambassador to Russia, Udayanga Weeratunga for re-opening Sri Lanka for tourism with the first charter arriving on Monday from Ukraine.
“We appreciate their efforts despite many obstacles in a depressed world of tourism for facilitating the charters from Ukraine, Kaserestan and Russia. With clear guidelines in place, now we hope that Aeroflot, the Russian Airline, which suspended operations to Colombo due to lack of clear guidelines would reconsider its operations to Colombo,” a SLAITO statement said.
“We are thankful to the Government of Sri Lanka for taking this bold step, which will benefit all stakeholders in the tourism industry,” it added.

Now it is clear who initiated the Ukrainian tour - the troika: Russia, Ukraine and our local guy.
