Sri Lanka’s apparel sector associates received fresh boost this week with the launch of the Ransalu Privilege Combo card which is the first ever dual swipe card in
the country.
The Ransalu Combo is a Commercial Bank debit card with added features.
The latest card was launched this week at an event that was graced by Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake, Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen and
top representatives of the apparel sector.
The initiative has kicked off with a partnership between Commercial Bank, the Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF) and Channel 17, the company tasked with managing an employee loyalty programme for the sector.
Sri Lanka’s Lake House Printers and Publishers PLC with MCT Card Technologies were responsible for the manufacturing of the card.
According JAAF, Combo Card holders would be able to enjoy privileges on ComBank’s services and products with occasional Promotional offers from MasterCard. The Ransalu Privilege Loyalty Programme already offers its members discounts on essential consumer items, hospitalisation, pharmaceutical products and clothing.
The Ransalu Pranaama Membership Card can be personalised to the company as well as the user, whereas programs and applications can as well be developed to
suit the requirement of individual companies.
The card received a major boost when top apparel exporters joined it by the end of 2014. Continuing on its new technology efforts a ‘smartphone app’ was launched through ‘Google Play’ in October 2015. Today the card has nearly 60000 apparel employees as subscribers and enlists 40 merchants.
The program aims to connect 350,000 employees and staff of the apparel sector to the digital space by 2017, while striving to minimize the hassles of worker engagement and welfare management.
