Nestlé celebrated Avurudu with its staff at its head office premises recently with the participation of Nestlé Lanka’s Managing Director Shivani Hegde.
The Avurudu activities commenced with the ‘kiriithireema’ and the lighting of the oil lamp, followed by the traditional Avurudu breakfast.
Thereafter the tradition of ‘GanuDenu’ – one of the most cherished traditions as the act of giving and receiving from those who are known or trusted - was conducted at the ‘Gemi Gedara’. Staff enthusiastically participated in the Avurudu games, including ‘kana mutti’, ‘kottapora”, coconut scraping contest, Nestomalt drinking contest, and ‘onchili pedima’.
