Retired Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS) officer Jagath P. Wijeweera has been appointed as Chairman of the Development Lotteries Board (DLB) by Finance, Economy and Policy Development Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

With a 35-year career behind him in public administration, Wijeweera has served a number of ministries and departments.He previously functioned as an Additional Secretary to the Defence Ministry, Secretary to the Law and Order Ministry and also as Director General of Customs.
Wijeweera has a first degree in fine arts from the University of Kelaniya and a postgraduate degree in international relations from the University of Colombo.
