Sri Lanka’s inflation in the month of August edged up to 3.4 percent from 3.3 percent in July, the data released by the Department of Census and Statistics (DCS) showed.
The Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) grew marginally during August to 130.1 points from 130 points in July.
The year-on-year (YoY) inflation of the food group has decreased from 2.6 percent in July to 2.8 percent in August 2019 while that of non food group increased from 5.9 percent in July to 6.2 percent in August.
Contribution to inflation by food commodities in August on YoY basis was 0.85 percent.The contribution of non food items was 4.30 ercent. The moving average inflation rate for the month of August was 3.8 percent compared to 4 percent in July.
