The International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (ICCSL), the domestic chapter of Paris-based international world business organisation, commenced its Foundation Certificate in International Business (FCIB) for the year 2017 offering a plethora of knowledge in the areas of logistics, customs, e-business and many alike to the future business leaders in the country.
The three-month long certificate programme has been designed focusing those who seek employment in the fields of banking and finance, international business, freight forwarding, international marketing and shipping
The certificate course, which was commenced on January 18, includes two short courses, one on much-awaited e-business, Internet, social media and open source software and another on logistics, freight forwarding and multimodal transport, which would be commencing on March 1.
“We have partnered with the best resourceful personnel in the respective fields to provide first-hand and comprehensive knowledge to those who follow the programme. In fact, we have already partnered with the ICC Academy in Singapore and Director General of Ports
We are awaiting the Director General’s endorsement for the FCIB Certificate since we cover all the areas they wanted us to include in the freight forwarding and multimodal transport module. We are also planning to partner with the Colombo Institute of Logistics Management (CILM) for some of our future programmes,” said ICCSL Chairman Keerthi Gunawardane.
ICCSL Education Committee Chairman Lal Jayawrdane said the FCIB was not another orthodox
“Since we have the experts with us to cater students, the certificate course will always keep updating with the international trends and standards. If Australia introduced a new method or a regulation with regard to customs responsibilities, we need to be aware of that trend not in six months’ time but today itself. This is the exceptionality of the FCIB offered by the ICCSL.
We have always evolved with the new trends be it local or international and will continue to do so in the future as well since we have an ICC network spanning over 130 countries. The ICC network is so strong and interconnected that we know what are the latest business trends and developments in our member countries. This helps us in modifying the FCIB modules and keep the programme up to date,” were the thoughts of Jayawardane.
If you ever had the slightest idea at the back of your mind to open up a new business and couldn’t figure out how to do it or have been thinking to expand or to promote your current business through sound business practice, the FCIB just might be the perfect course.
The ICCSL invites those who are accustomed to think unconventionally and outside the box to join with the FCIB to expand their inclusive knowledge on business
The ICC has a longstanding history on providing education for offspring in the business field through its ICC Academy in Singapore.
The international organisation has over the years expanded its roots in 130 countries with a membership drive of over 6.5 million. Trade facilitation, export and import and cross border issues pertaining to goods transport are some of the areas addressed by the ICC.
The ICCSL is the local chapter of the ICC, which holds the sole authority to issue ATA Carnet. They are the originators of incoterms, certificates of origin and to
