Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake paid courtesy calls on the Chief Prelates of the Malwathu and the Asgiri Chapters yesterday to brief them on the proposals containing in the 2017 budget, and allayed their fears by mentioning that the budget will be farsighted and includes people-friendly proposals. Economists and Sri Lanka’s lenders are calling for fiscal consolidation.
