Woman fraudster arrested

A 36 year old woman who defrauded over 40 people for more than Rs.10 million promising them employment in Europe and Middle Eastern countries was arrested by the Anuradhapura police.

The female, a resident of Thangalla, had allegedly been committing these frauds for a long period from her house in Ragama.

At the time of the arrest the suspect had in her possession gold jewelry worth over Rs.500, 000, cash amounting to Rs.32, 000 and a forged passport. (AB)

    Faqi, It is not stupidity, perhaps naivity. But the people can't see any progress in their lives,they tend to believe those who offer such great opportunities. Yes we can educate them on fraudsters and opportunists but they need help. As long as they are left destitute, new fraudsters, opportunists, racketeers and pyramidsts will get them.

    Those who invested in those organizations too wanted higher returns than normally offered by other banks and finance companies.
