In Philippines where they are fighting a war with Mindanao terrorists, President Aquino is leading from the front regarding this aspect. No sirens or high speeds.

Good idea, they should take a cadillac hearse as well, same form . heavily tinted, with no plate.
Shace-UK Tuesday, 10 July 2012 08:40 AM
Well said mate.....The MP's in Sweden take the train....and MPs in UK even ride a cycle.....just like every other citizen of the country.

Why should these useless politicians get so much privileges in a poor country like Sri lanka? What benefits do they provide to the country in return? General public are powerless to change this culture. But people can show their disapproval by not voting at the next election. If majority of the country stop voting at the general elections message will go through to the politicians and to the whole world. Now it's the time for collective action not the the criticism.

Lets see whether this lady is sent to a foreign hospital using the personal money of the VVIP. Lets see whether the critically injured lady and family are paid compensation using the personal money of the VVIP. If this does not happen, lets hope that this VVIP and his family are cursed for generations.

exactly one day maybe in some rural area, people should get together and beat the daylights out of these mongrels. this way they will learn a lesson

C'mon people give the motorist a brake. He had to speed as they were late for a party at Banana republic.

This is all because politicians, think that their lives and responsibilities are significantly more important than the rest of us. Only the people can change this and show them that they cannot survive without our support.
Sam Tuesday, 10 July 2012 11:16 AM
These types of accidents have happened before.Very sad. What have we learnt? What are we going to do to avoid these happening in the future?
Sathyan Tuesday, 10 July 2012 11:44 AM
In UK,USA & other countries, vehicles carrying VVIPs obey traffic laws & speed limits.
peeda mossa Tuesday, 10 July 2012 12:07 PM
Vehicles parked on either side of zebra crossings, obstructing the view of both drivers and pedestrians is a very common sight in our country. If the police catch the offenders and bring them to book, instead of playing hide and seek at open stretches of roads with their speed guns, many lives could be saved.

NO !! Exercise ur franchise to vote properly. Bring in people of class NOT from the gutters.. Little do these POLITICIANS realize that they were just like any other, before they were voted IN. The same votes can vote them OUT too... BUT WE citizens need to know who can work for US. YES they are community reps...who hold office because of the common mans' votes...

pissu pusa Wednesday, 11 July 2012 06:50 AM
Even the Pedestrian crossings are not safe today, why have them why have have restrictions at all lets all be chaotic like the Govt and all the other Goons.
ruvin_r Tuesday, 10 July 2012 05:33 AM
Its all the peoples fault for voting them into power.
Vernon Tuesday, 10 July 2012 01:33 AM
For heavens sake at-least now stop the whisking these so called VIPs at unsafe speeds. The urgency needed by the ordinary people when moving about on roads, is equally important to that of VIPs. Please remember VIP that you get the curse of all the people on the road, when you get the people go to the drains because you have to pass through. You have the authority to stop this nonsense. So do it.

Just yesterday i saw a convoy going at an ungodly speed, i really don't see why they need to speed. It's ridiculous.
Zebra Krosin Tuesday, 10 July 2012 03:55 AM
so thats why they take a ambulance along, why not take a herse as well......this is so childish and stupid, only the people can bring this madness to an end !
Amarathunga Chandika Tuesday, 10 July 2012 03:59 AM
A close follow-up should be done, whether this culprit be released or not, as he is the Presidential Security Division.

The Ruler of Dubai drives his own car without any security at all.
The car has a Registration Number and a valid number plate as well.
The wind shields and the windscreens are not heavily tinted, either.
THINK A MINUTE!

absolute thuggery
abuse of power at the highest levels
very dangerous and arrogant driving
with no respect nor value for human life
If for some reason a driver on the road cannot
make way or is slow
the abuse is profanity
people are shacked by this type of rude and dastardly behaviour
got to stop this nonsense
