A Sri Lankan woman was arrested recently in Fintas for attempting to bribe police officers for the release of three of her compatriots against whom missing cases were registered, reports Alam Alyawm daily.

Reportedly, the woman tried to use ‘wasta’ and other methods for the release of the prisoners but when she failed, she resorted to bribery of KD 300 per prisoner.

She was arrested when she gave the amount to the officer after he agreed to accept the bribe.

Legal action will be taken against the woman. (Arab Times)

I think you will find bribing a policeman works quite well in Thailand, Cambodia etc etc, it is not only the SL police that are corrupt but they are one of the cheapest to buy off :)

Unfortunately our bribery commission doesn't take action against people who try to bribe like in other countries. if they did we can reduce bribes very easily.

I was out of si Lanka , I know all about those countries.

Women just can bend over in some countries and they let them go.
