Woman arrested scribbling on the Sigiriya frescos

A 27-year-old woman had been arrested for damaging the Sigiriya frescos yesterday, the Police said.

They woman, a resident of Batticaloa, had visited Sigiriya along with her friends had scribbled her name on one of the frescoes using her hairpin.

Police said the Archaeology Department officials had handed over the woman to the Sigiriya Police, while she was writing her names on the frescos.

Police said the woman would be produced before the Dambulla Magistrate Court today.(DS)
