MR and the SL should know that as long as they drag on the
political solution, they could be facing many more like this in
future as well, no democratic country in EU or US going to stop
these people, it is a golden opportunity now for MR to find a solution once for all, so that future of SL is secured and MR become another Lee Kuan Yew, Michael Gorberchev or Mahthir mohamed of SL.

Wimal, Yako! Do you understand what is Democracy means. It means FREEDOM OF SPEECH, FREEDOM TO DEMONSTARTE, FREEDOM TO WRITE ETC. So the tamil people in UK just excercesed their rights under a Democratic government. UK is not SL where your government can arrest and lock up people who demonstrate.
Gona! if you can demonstarte in front of UN mission in SL then why cant the Tamils in Uk demonstrate in front of the Oxford Union. MODAYA

lalith Wije Thursday, 02 December 2010 12:56 PM
Agree. Did they not envisage such a scenario would occur and take counter measures. All our embassies are working with blinkers on and hardly know what is happening outside the embassy. They are more interested in childrens education and enjoying perks. This has now blown up in a disgraceful way as after all MR is the President of our country and was only recently reelected and re endorsed by the people.and the embassy should have got the British govt to ensure his free movement and speech and the govt should now take action against those who neglected their duty. What were the thousands of Sinhalese/Muslims doing in London?Could not the embassy have arranged counter demos? What was shown on BBC/Al Jazeera was a disgrace to Sri Lanka. Lalith wije.

Mr Weerawansa you and Dr Mervyn should have been in the president's team of security contingent.
Mel Thursday, 02 December 2010 12:59 PM
We send a bunch of useless people as ambassadors and high commissioners, who treat it as a personal vacation. What more can we expect?
PD Thursday, 02 December 2010 01:10 PM
I'm in London and nobody expected protest of this scale, especially in this weather. Hence we can't blame our mission. Further we can't give into the protesters forever.
MR's message expressing regret was a responsible President's message. It is a unifying speach. Its too soon for MR come to Britain.
Prof Wickramatillake Thursday, 02 December 2010 01:10 PM

when the president appoints incompetent back scratches and close relatives to important state positions international humiliation of this nature is naturally going to happen. this is not just the begining of an international uprising, but an inspirational one that is going to follow him wherever he goes
POL MAMA Thursday, 02 December 2010 01:50 PM
