Public Management Reforms Minister Navin Dissanayake yesterday rejected the claims that he would crossover to the United National Party (UNP) leaving the United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Government.

He said he would rather practise as a lawyer if he lost the portfolio which he is holding.

Addressing an event at the Nuwara Eliya District Secretariat to distribute seed potatoes among the farmers, Minister Dissanayake said he would never cross over from one party to another again.

“I promise that I will never cross over to another party again by betraying the 40,000 votes I had received. My decisions are always direct and straightforward. I have no reason to deceive anyone. Even if I lost these posts I can work as a lawyer,” he said.

Minister Dissanayake left the UNP and joined the UPFA government in 2007.

“There were many criticisms over our support to the UPFA in 2007. We joined the government to support the President to put an end to the war. I think people today approve our decision taken back then to support the President,” he said.
