Shashi Weerawansa, the wife of MP Wimal Weerawansa arrived at the Financial Crime Investigation Division (FCID) a short while ago to give a statement.

Her lawyer Kapila Gamage told media outside the FCID that the FCID had questioned his client for four hours on how she paid utility bills and her means of monthly income. 
Ms. Weerawansa had been asked to report to the FCID over allegations of unlawful acquisition of assets both by herself and her husband.

The FCID had earlier summoned Ms. Weerawansa on two occasions and Mr. Weerawansa had been summoned to the FCID tomorrow.

Meanwhile, former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal had given a statement to the FCID on an alleged financial fraud during the acquisition of a private firm by the Urban Development Authority (UDA). He was question five hours today. (Sanath Desmond)
