Documents pertaining to the World Cup 2011, including some audit documents were among the material that were in the hard disks that had gone missing from Sri Lanka Cricket over the weekend, Suraj Dandeniya the tournament Director of World Cup 2011 told Daily Mirror online
He added that the two hard disks contained international and local details regarding the concluded World Cup 2011. However he noted that no harm had been done to Sri Lanka Cricket as back up on all of the material were in possession of the SLC.
Meanwhile, COPE Chairman, Senior Minister D.E.W. Gunasekara said the mysterious theft of computer hard discs has taken place at a time when the COPE has summoned the SLC for an investigation.
The SLC must appear before the COPE in the first week of July to answer allegations of misappropriation of funds raised by the Auditor General. The COPE has also instructed the AG to submit all available documents of the SLC for further investigations,” Minister Gunasekara said.
The SLC embroiled in a plethora of controversies was summoned by the COPE in May to answer charges ranging from allegations of match fixing to financial misappropriations.
Mr. Dandeniya further noted that a complaint to the Cinnamon Gardens Police has been made regarding the two computer hard disk that had gone missing from the Sri Lanka Cricket office during the weekend and investigations will take place into the matter.
He added that the Criminal Investigation Department was not involved in the investigations as reported and that no such raid was carried out by them.
