Hirunika Premachandra, daughter of slain presidential Advisor Baratha Lakshman Premachandra, said that “it seems like Duminda Silva would be set free”.

Speaking to the media at the conclusion of a hearing at the Colombo Magistrate’s Court, Ms. Premachandra said she doesn’t understand why it took a year for her driver to recant his statement.

“I don’t get how he got reminded of this one year later – even psychologically it’s the statement given in the heat of that moment that is accepted. I don’t know how it all changed a year later,” she said.

When asked as to if she thought there was political interference into the recant, Premachandra was convinced there was.

“Definitely there was. Money can do anything in this country.” she said.

    lankan Tuesday, 05 February 2013 06:50 PM

Still Hirunika will join UPFA. It may be a game where she is part of the game that is being played. She would have exchanged her stand against Duminda for a position in UPFA.

    Ranga Tuesday, 05 February 2013 06:45 PM

Has it taken this long for you to figure this out?

    GC Tuesday, 05 February 2013 06:40 PM

Miss, I have now followed your situation for a long time. I find you are divided between two conflicting positions: a) the need for justice for your father and b) to keep on supporting a party some (high level?) members of which you seem to say have influenced the course of justice for political reasons. You should not and cannot live hanging on to both these. If you are to go far as a lawyer and people are to respect you, please choose one of them, preferably the former (justice for your father).
