A group of people who had come from Chavakachcheri held a protest in Kilinochchi demanding a land which had been used by the Army after it was captured from the LTTE, the army said.

“A group of 40 people arrived in Chavakachcheri staged a protest in Kilinochchi asking for the land. The land was captured by the Army from the LTTE. None of the protesters had legal deeds for the land although they claimed it was theirs,” Defence Ministry spokesman, Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya said.

He said the land was adjacent to the land where the slain LTTE Leader used to commemorate Martyrs’ Day. (Lahiru Pothmulla and Sanath Desmond)

the have lost the claimed land! This is the kind of bluff an
    Army Spokesman is capable of.
does the army have deeds to prove that this land belongs to them?
If its State land, the Army does not have to produce deeds. The Army belongs to the State, so the army has every legal rights to this land. End of story.

    Jay Thursday, 29 May 2014 05:44 AM

I hope you would say the same when your home occupied by the Army by force. At that time, you will know what is it to lose the home you loved most to some element one after another.

If army to keep the properties of the people without compensating them what's the difference between Army and LTTE?

    Jay Thursday, 29 May 2014 05:49 AM

so What's the difference between LTTE and SL Army? Both are same then? forcibly keeping the property of innocent civilians without compensating them? One rule for North and another rule for South?

    Asoma Thursday, 29 May 2014 05:54 AM

Last 65 years LTTE robbed wealth of Sri Lanka. These cheated Sinhalese and grabbed the lands making false deeds and bribed Land Department workers and Kachcheri officers. That is why they are always telling Sinhalaya Modaya

    Asoma

How old are you darling. Who is the idiot told you that LTTE was there for last 65 years

    Jayen Thursday, 29 May 2014 10:16 AM

Was there a protest by these so called owners when LTTE occupied it. LTTE occupied mostly undeveloped shrub jungle owned by the state. So no claimants other than the state. This is being demanded to fulfill LTTE revival activity and as alternate commemoration site.

    Asanka Thursday, 29 May 2014 10:49 AM
