Opposition leader of the Uva Provincial Council Upali Samaraweeera (UNP) was remanded today after he surrendered to the police over a shooting incident at Ambagasdowa last month.
A complaint had earlier been lodged claiming that the opposition leader of the Uva Provincial Council was allegedly involved in the shooting incident and death threats on a group of UPFA supporters on Jan 26, 2010.

Since this person happens to be from the Opposition the law also will be applied to the word. But when it comes to Govt. offenders the law will be lenient. Where is democracy?

Law in this country applies to the opposition members of the
parliament or any other bodies and if this is committed by a
govt.party member or supporter he will be sent free and this is
the MR type jungle law.
