The supporters of two United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) politicians contesting the election to the Central Provincial Council are alleged to have clashed at the Walala Junction in the Patha Dumbara electorate in the early hours today.

Police said an injured supporter of one of the candidates was admitted to Wattegama hospital.

They said the clash took place between the UPFA supporters of former provincial health minister Sunil Amaratunga and candidate Linton Wijesinghe.
Police said they had recorded a statement from the injured supporter but had not made any arrests so far. (R.S. Kiriyawatta)
