Upali Kodikara arrested

UPFA Western provincial councillor Upali Kodikara was arrested this morning when he surrendered to the Cinnamon Gardens Police on charges of obstructing the police in performing their duties.He is alleged to have obstructed the police personnel on duty at the BMICH when former president Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry on October 16 to record his statement.

The code of conduct for politicians should have a disqualification threshold where if they are convicted of any offence they should be suspended from the next election. There should also be special courts for them to speed up the process.
